 is a term that describes the link between a plug or connector into a port. For example, your monitor, mouse, and keyboard all must connect to the computer before they work.

a cable is one or more wires covered in a plastic covering that allows for the transmission of power or data between devices.


Leased line
Telephone line or data line that is rented by a private individual or company from a telephone company or data line provider. A leased line is always connected and does not require any special number to be connected. A great example of a common leased line is a T1 data line.

A T1 is a leased data communications line capable of transmitting 1,544,000 bits per second. T1 lines are used for transferring a company's network data to the Internet or for an ISP connection. The advantage of using T1 is,  you are not sharing your connection with others, much more secure connection and get the same download and upload speed.

dedicated line

A dedicated line is a telecommunications path between two points that is available 24 hours a day for use by a designated user (individual or company). It is not shared in common among multiple users as dial-up lines are. A dedicated line can be a physical path owned by the user or rented from a telephone company, in which case it is called a leased line. A synonym is a non switched line (as opposed to a switched or dial-up line).
